"CALENDAR [HWC logo] // SPRINGFIELD / OHIO" showing a racing cyclist wear 5 medals won in competitions, approximately 4"x7" cabinet photograph within an embossed border with rounded edges, a little wear at 2 corners when seen from the back, back paper browning consistent with circa-1879 age. The photographer H. W. Calendar, was written up in the 1881 'History of Clark County, Ohio' with a full biography that reads in part: "In 1878, he returned to Springfield and opened an elegant photographic studio in the Commercial Building, with the finest and most modern appliances, and pronounced by some, at the time it was opened, to be the best in Ohio." $20.00 brpo

This style of bike were popular among wealthy young men, due to their cost. Compare the front wheel diameter to his leg length; it was probably his, rather than a prop.
