"B. D. Ackley & Homer Rodeheaver / Musicians of the Sunday Party Waterloo Ia. 22620" unused sepia-tone Azo (squares in corners) real photo postcard, photographer credited is C. U. Williams in Bloomington Illinois, good edges. Rare: nothing else like it when we searched the Internet. Bentley DeForest Ackley was an American musician (on piano & organ among other things) & prolific gospel composer associated with Billy Sunday & publisher H. Rodeheaver from 1907 - 1915. Sold but front side still available for scholarly study & research as an enlarged 300-dpi scan (publication quality) in .jpg format for $3.75. i(w)mrp
"BECKMESSER HANS SACHS VEIT PROGNER / NÜRNBERGER MEISTERSINGER" showing a group of 3 busts in a striking image, number 5031 from Herman Martin, unused Postkarte, slight yellowing of the paper with age, minor wear at 2 corners. Hans Sachs was a 16th century Bavarian mastersinger & songwriter, about whom (among others) Richard Wagner composed a long opera. Beckmesser was a character in the opera who many believe was intended to be a Jewish stereotype. $5.00 bnjm

This couple split their teaching time with the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music from 1918 until 1934 when they retired. "F. Chopin" showing portrait in signed Rumpf art, vertical format on a sepia-tone postcard, made in Germany by GG Co. (their number 5040), back paper browning with age, trivial wear at one bottom corner, otherwise good edges. The caption reproduces Chopin's signature. $4.50 ma

STEPHENS / ...Composer of... / "I Just Want Another / Cookie, Mother, Please' / Written in honor of our Boys in Service / Introduced over the air by many radio artists ..." unused postcard advertising the sheet music from the Nordyke Publishing Company in Hollywood California. Mentions Susie (the Gal from the Hills) on WTMV in East St. Louis Illinois & Evelyn Elben (the Singing Cowgirl) in Columbus Ohio. Not just a composer, Fred's biographical details on the back establish him as a baker who traveled with cowboy bands doing rope tricks (note the rope over his shoulder)! Two tiny spots on front, a light rubber band mark on the back, otherwise fresh. $15.00 rmccgio

"Giuseppe Verdi" showing the operatic composer's portrait & (presumably) his original peasant home in Le Roncole Italy; postcard from Winsch, several small spots of toning on front, mailed AUG 30 1911 at Perry New York (30 is upside-down in cancel), long corner crease misses the art. We believe this design is copied from an 1899 postcard. $7.50 mni
"JACK TEAGARDEN AND HIS / ALL-MARTIN BRASS SECTION" unused real photo postcard with high contrast & glossy finish, advertising Martin brand trumpets & trombones, excellent condition. Musicians named on back: Tom Gonsalin, Sidney Feller, John Fallstich, Jack Teagarden, Seymour Goldfinger, Jose Gutierrez & Joe Ferrell. Rare: no other example offered or exhibited when we searched the Internet. $30.00 mgg
Louis Lupas signed art portraits depicting composers: Fritz Kreisler, Ignace Jan Paderewski, Jan Sibelius (shown), Johann Sebastian Bach, Richard Wagner & Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. All have 2 tape remnants on back, heavy toning on back & front toning similar to the postcard shown. Paderewski postcard has 1/2-inch tear (that closes well) ending in an internal crease. Lupas is known for his charcoal & pastel sketches of famous people. [One original by him ordinarily sells in the $500 to $700 price range.] These postcards belong together in an album, so we offer all 6 for $6.75. ma
